Filming in Malta
For over 50 years filmmakers have been attracted
to film in Malta due to the country's rich history, culture and the
wealth of location potential that the Maltese islands offer.
Besides, costs are relatively low when compared to many other
European cities. In an interview Guy
Ritchie gave to The Times of Malta, the film-maker was quoted as
saying: "Malta is inexpensive and the labour is good. Not only
that, the locals are just plain fun. It's been a case of home away
from home here"
Eric Zaouali, executive producer of France's largest feature
production in 2007 ("Largo Winch") said: "The
sharp organisation of PCP made shooting in Malta a relevant production
choice". Filming in Malta went "very very well" said Richard Lalonde, producer
of 'A Different Loyalty' which
stars Sharon Stone and Rupert Everett. He continues: "Malta is
a very attractive place to shoot, the crew is just amazing and the
locations were very good for us."
The island itself was host to the academy award-winning film "Gladiator"
directed by Ridley Scott and starring
Russell Crowe.

Following the filming in Malta of two
music videos for Sony Music (UK),
the producers of Stylorouge (UK) wrote to the PCP saying
"Our
enormous thanks for making a potentially difficult shoot such a smooth-running
and enjoyable experience. The crew, locations and facilities you
provided on our none-too-generous budget was a revelation. We would
whole-heartedly recommend PCP to anyone looking for professional
production support in Malta (in fact we already have!)"

Film camera packages are not
available in Malta. Lighting and grip equipment is limited.
Equipment may be brought in easily from Italy, Germany or the UK where
airlines operate frequently on a daily basis. Malta is three hours
away by air from London and only 75 minutes from Rome. |

The PCP is based on the island of Malta which proudly boasts the famous tanks
at Mediterranean Film Studios, known for
water special effects. The tanks hosted such productions as "U-571",
"White
Squall" and "Cutthroat Island".
