Kurt Arrigo - one of the island's leading photographers who has also built a reputation as a film stills photographer.  He was the exclusive stills-man for Helen of Troy (2002) and A Different Loyalty (2003) in Malta, the latter starring Sharon Stone.

Mediterranean Film Studios is the world's longest established water SFX facility.  The studio is also well know for its craftsmen for set construction.

The government of Malta recognized the importance of the film industry in 1999 by setting up the Malta Film Commission.  In 2005 financial incentives were introduced in the form of rebates which are currently up to 22% of local expenditure.
