MEETING ABOUT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Malcolm Scerri-Ferrante will be attending a meeting on campus for students who might be interested in career opportunities in the film industry.

The meeting will give a briefing on the possibilities available in this field locally.  The idea behind this meeting, besides giving information and addressing questions about the pros and cons of choosing a career in this industry, is to give an overview of the training positions available on a number of foreign productions which shall be coming to Malta during the summer and beyond.

Third and Fourth year students in Arts or Communications with a penchant for this activity and a keen desire to learn on set are invited to attend.

Those who are not students but wish to attend the meeting are requested to send their resume or a detailed email about themselves to info@pcpmalta.com to receive an invitation since seats will be limited.

INTRODUCTORY COURSE IN PHYSICAL PRODUCTION

Due to the unpredictability of the flow of foreign productions shooting in Malta, the local film-servicing sector is occasionally faced with the situation of having two productions shooting simultaneously on the island. For this reason there is often the need to double the current limited local work force.

In 2007 the PCP is organizing a 2-day crash course in Physical Production.

Instruction

The course will be headed by a reputable British producer and production manager.

Who is eligible to attend?

This course is intended primarily for newcomers to the film industry, those who are seeking to commit their careers to the 'world of film', however unpredictable local work opportunities may be.  Those who already work as production assistants, runners or other 'assistant' roles are encouraged to apply.  Although some experience in TV or film would be an asset, if all you have is enthusiasm, positive energy, common-sense and determination to get involved in the film industry, then you have sufficient requirements to apply for this course.

Course focus

The course will focus on the mechanics of making of a movie and the different roles involved in production. There will also be a thorough look from a producer's perspective at how all other departments work.

Course fees

The class is open to a minimum of 15 and maximum of 25 students.  The fee will be between Lm75 and Lm120 (depending on the number in the class).

Dates

To be advised.

How to apply

Send us an email with 'COURSE' in the subject line and your contact details in the body.  You will be contacted in due course once the dates are finalised.
