Training
Following some years as an informal organization, The Producer’s Creative Partnership (PCP) was formed as a company in Malta in 2001 with the sole function of supporting international shoots. Back then it was the first company of its kind on the island.
We, the PCP, are proud to have since then supported nearly 100 productions, big and small, including such films as Papillon, The Count of Monte Cristo and Largo Winch and including nearly 50 advertising productions. We pride ourselves for having an unbroken track record of satisfied clients due to our ability to organize productions efficiently, to minimize risk and always stay within budgets.
Over the years we have trained several crew members through on set training, helping the country increase its crew base and cope with an influx of foreign productions. From mere runners and assistants the Malta crew base, trained by the PCP, soon began to consist also of location managers, production accountants and production managers, besides seeing an improvement also in technical departments. Thanks to government incentives becoming aggressive and thanks to the founding of new service companies to help cope with the influx of foreign shoots, the crew base in Malta began to grow exponentially. And still today there are more vacancies then there are qualified candidates.
Globally, the hunger for film and especially TV content has today reached levels never quite seen before. Meanwhile the proper training up of crews is sadly not increasing at the same speed.
The Production Manager is a vital role in a production and this person can either make or break the organization. A good PM will be obvious from the crew he/she hires, the protocols he/she sets in place, his/her budgeting and organization and his/her ability to cost control, his/her ability to assess risk and ultimately his/her knowing when to say Yes or No to department heads and to the director. A PM not properly trained or experienced will in turn risk permeating negative effects throughout the organization causing additional stress to departments and directly or indirectly compromising production value.
We take this role very seriously and we believe the global film industry urgently needs more training in this field. We therefore designed a number of Production Manager courses, short and long, intended to reach this goal. We are happy to collaborate with various stakeholders worldwide in this regard.
Courses are generally held between December and March each year. All courses are live, some held physically in a classroom and others held online.
